. All supermarkets are dodgy. It's like a different political party. They are all puppets f the same puppeteer. Here are posts I have written on Waaitrose and the COOP. The COOP is one that I used to believe was "different", better than the others. I think the only way out is to grow your own or use local suppliers that you know are ok because you actually know them.
Oh looks like I can't paste links any more! It has taken me 10 mins already to type that short para in. Go toSuliWrites.wordpress.com and search for WAitrose and or cooperative monopoly.
TAP - Julia, why not write all you can offline, and then copy and paste it in. I sometimes have to resort to doing that.
The Tesco terror
Sun 6th Feb 11 — Chris
Tesco is the world's third largest retailer. Its worldwide profits increased 12 per cent to £3.8bn in the year 2010-11. Of this £2,504m was earned in the UK. What they don't tell us is that:
- Local traders are being pushed out of business by new Tesco stores. This reduces consumer choice and the profits leave the local economy.
- Tesco fills its shelves with imported produce instead of supporting UK farmers. Surveys by Friends of the Earth have shown that at the height of the UK apple season well over half the apples on offer in Tesco stores are imported
- Farmers in the UK and overseas are being bullied by Tesco buyers as the company passes costs and risks back down the supply chain
- As alternative shops are lost, access to healthy food could be affected. Tesco performed poorly in a rating of major retailers contribution to healthy diets carried out by the National Consumer Council
- Workers overseas growing and packing food for Tesco and UK homeworkers assembling goods for Tesco are not getting basic employment rights
- Tesco, like other big supermarkets, causes environmental damage by transporting food long distances, over-packaging its food, and building stores which are highly inefficient in terms of energy use.
The number of Tesco stores in the UK was 2,482 at the end of 2010. In their 2010-11 Annual Report they announced that they would continue to expand in the UK.
There are currently 18 Tesco stores in Cardiff.

COMMENT -
Good old Jack Cohen's company has ruined Britains towns, aided and abetted by corrupt councils who have certainly not worked for the interests of the small business owners or indeed the local populations who have seen their towns fabric and character ripped out and changed beyond recognition. Prior to Jacks shops opening in a town, paid off councils take away any free parking and make it so difficult to find spaces that when Jack 'n Tessa come along the punters are only to happy to get their heavily surveilled "free" two hours. They are also guilty of using unpaid labour and have the dubious honour of re-stamping the sell by dates on old stock.
But one day, when this premier company of the NWO has eliminated all competion, and then amalgamated with the other big two into TesAsMo, the sheeple will have no option but to spend their credits with them and will be gratefufull that they are allowed to shop there.
